Tenants of Lord ONeill

From the Belfast News Letter two advertisments which provide lists of tenants of Lord ONeill of Shanescastle County Antrim in 1761 and 1766.

To be let from the first of November next, to solvent Protestant tenants, for such terms as may be agreed on the following lands situated in the barony of Toom and County of Antrim, being part of the estate of Charles ONeill of Shanescastle, Esq (to wit). In the denomination of Monterevedy:

The farms in the townland of Aughaboy now held by widow Maddigan, widow Miller and William Miller.

In Ballygrooby, George Hannas farm.

In Carngranny, widow Rainey and Rowland McAdorys farms.

In Ballytrasna, James Kirks, John Moors and John McAulays farms.

The half townland of Drumkeerin.

In Druminevey, Samuel Englishs farm.

In Gortaharn Nathaniel Allison, = Patrick OMarron, Hugh McCann, and Bryan ONeills farms.

Also several tenements in the town of Randalstown.

In the denomination of Braide: The quarter land of Longmore, lately held by Henry OHara of Cleggan, the elder, deceased; and the quarterland of Creavamoy, now in the possession of Arthur ONeill.

In the denomination of Feevagh: The townland of Aughacarnachan.

In Ballynamullen, the farms of Bryan ONeill and brothers.

The townland of Ballynaleney.

In Cargin, widow Keelin, and Patrick and Daniel McVeaghs farms.

The townlands of Grenan and Gallagh.

Also the several farms in the towns of Ballylenully, Ballydonnollon, Ballydunmaul and Moneyrodd, which are now out of lease.

In the denomination of Largy: The townland of Glenhugh, lately held by David Phillips, deceased.

Proposals may be sent to the said Mr ONeill at Shanescastle, or in his absence to Andrew Todd of the same, Esq.

Dated this 25th March, 1761. The Belfast Newsletter & Advertiser,

1st August 1766 To be let from the first of November next, for Lives or Years, the following lands part of the estate of Charles ONeill, of Shanescastle and County of Antrim, Esq; (to wit)

Manor of Edenduffcarrick: Widow Dobbins farm in Achilley

William Astler, Henry ONeill, David Astler, Joseph French, and the sons of John (roe) French in Ballygrooby.

Several farms in Ballytrasna, now out of lease. Hugh McCanns and Bryan ONeills farms.

Farms in Gortaharn. Townland of Drumramer.

The townland of Creagemore.

The half townland of Lenogh.

The lands in Maghereagh, formerly Samuel Bells and Charles Dobbins.

The townland of Lisnagregan.

The townland of Muckleramer, called Gibsons Quarter.

The lands of Umry.

John Wilsons and Rowland McAdorys farms in Carngranny.

James and Pat Duffins farms in Lisnenevenagh.

Manor of Buckna: Hugh Doughertys and Pat Duffins farms in Aughacully.

John Craige and Daniel Downeys Quarter Carncoagh.

Patrick Loaghs farm in Rathkenny.

Manor of Mulloghcane. The townland of Aghacarnaghan except John ONeills farm.

The townland of Anaghmore except Robert Crawfords farm.

The townland of Ballydugenon.

The townland of Ballynamullon.

The townland of Carlean.

The townland of Clonkeen except the Gaddis farm.

The townland of of Drumremond.

The farm in Derryhullogh, formerly Mr. Kennedy Hendersons.

The townland of Killysas.

The lands out of lease in Moneynick.

The townland of Portlee.

The lands out of lease in Ballydonnollon.

The lands out of lease in Munyrodd.

Manor of Cashell. The six towns of Gortgole, towit Lisnahuncheon, Drumrankin, Luan, Killyless and Mobuy, all of which will be out of lease in two years, are now to be let, to commence from the first of November 1768.

Proposals may be given in at Mr. ONeills office in Shanescastle aforesaid. Dated this 26th July, 1766.
