Death Certificates
Certification of deaths was introduced in Ireland on 1st January 1864.
"What does a death certificate tell me"?
A death certificate will tell you the following;
The full name of the deceased.
The date the death occurred
The address at which the death took place
Either the age or the date of birth of the deceased.
The cause of death.
The name, address and relationship to the deceased of
the person reporting the death.
In some cases a maiden name will also be given for a
married woman or widow.
"What do I get"?
You will be sent a copy of the original death certificate
certified by the General Registers Office of Northern
Ireland.
