I am looking for any information on James Patterson or McDowall born
c 1846.
He married Harriet Louisa Snowden (or Snowdon) in Colchester on 1.6.1876
I think his mothers name may have been Jane McDowall.
Any info on James or his parents would be great.

Many thanks

James Very Happy

All these years later and I am still not much further forward, other than from "Roots Ireland" I know he was born James McDowell and his date of baptism was 5th April 1846 and his mother Jane McDowell was a single woman from Carnasure in Comber. When he joined the Army in 1864 he gave his name as Patterson and his mother as Jane, no surname. When he married in 1876 he gave his parents as Robert Patterson a deceased butcher and Jane Patterson nee McDowall. I can find no record of his mother or her husband marrying or dying.
